Art Decor is making the world beautiful one wall at a time.

How to hang art

Why are ‘decor styles’ listed first when most artistic websites list ‘subject’ first?
One day, as I was pondering over how I could make the site easier for my buyers to find what they needed, I had an aha moment. I realized that as the majority of them were home decorators and interior designers, they have a pretty clear idea of what they need based on their vision, and that vision, most of the time, fits into a decor style or theme. So, I wanted to help them out.

Isn’t art subjective? It doesn’t fit nicely into a category?
Right, however, that’s the beauty of it. It’s not set in stone and as I create more art or offer other art by other artists, the work may easily appear in other categories as well. The intent is only to open up possibilities.

The information on the pages about the decor styles are more like stories instead of how-to info...
Well, I’m not a professional decorator—I’m a photographic artist. It’s not my place to tell or convince someone of what they already know about decorating or want as art decor for the home. They know what they want. They know what they like. I just hope I can give another perspective from the artistic angle. Now we’re talking about what my talent is—showing the world in a different perspective.

There’s an inspirational decor art page?
Yes. That’s a style. Teens love photography and famous quotes on their walls. Heck, adults, especially today, are looking for inspiration as well. Why not make it beautiful. Plus, nothing gives me greater joy then when I’ve sold an inspirational poster. Just to know that someone is feeling inspired when they look at it—well, there aren't words to describe THAT feeling.

Which of your images sells the most?
This one. Guess everyone loves a daisy. I love it too.

Many of your images are black and white.
You know that famous quote by the poet and artist Kahlil Gibran, "Work is love made visible," well, I absolutely love a finished black and white photograph. The images are what I saw, felt, and loved on the inside expressed outwardly.

There aren’t reams of your artwork at this site.
No. I admire those artists that can produce high volumes of art, but I find that a challenge. I put so much energy into the creation of one image, that before I know it, time has slipped by me like the wind.

When someone clicks on an image where are they directed?
They will either go to my artwork at Art.com, Allposters.com, Artistrising.com, which is a division of Art.com, or Cafepress.com. They currently handle my printing and shipping needs, which I am grateful for.

Are all the images created and copyrighted by you?
All my personal artwork is, however, I am in affiliation with Art.com and Allposters.com and that allows me to offer other artist's art as well on this site. My desire is to help people get connected to the art that they want, and sometimes that's not mine. I don’t have an issue with that. But, if I can get them connected to something they do like, well then, not only am I helping them, which is what the art of business is, I’m helping a fellow artist as well. To me, that’s a beautiful thing. That’s an aspect of my mission, to make the world a little bit more beautiful, one wall at a time...

Are any of these artists favourites of yours?
No. Most haven't a clue I do this for them. Almost the only time I will attach the word favorite to an artist is when they're long past. The masters come to mind. But, there are some amazing contemporary artists today that I think people should be aware of and consider for their art decor projects.

In a sentence, why are you an artist?
I will answer with a Emile Zola quote: "I am an artist...I am here to live out-loud."

What are you focusing on now?
My primary focus will always be photographic, and within in that black and white images, however, I am revisiting and revising my digital painting techniques I used to dab in years ago when the technology wasn't as sophisticated as it is today and was virtually a nightmare. Basically, abstract digital art.
