Who I am
Hello there! Welcome. I'll start off by letting
you know that the website's name, Lausen Arts,
is based on my surname and not the picturesque
municipality of Lausen, Switzerland. Actually,
I'm a Canadian fine art photographer, digital
abstract artist, and graphic designer. Like
many artists, the theme of my life has
circulated around creativity. I've studied
various aspects of art, from traditional
illustration, to art history, to black and
white photography, to digital graphic design,
all through a range of institutions located
around the world, from Florence, Italy, to New
York, to Vancouver. After training, I was
blessed to work as an artist, however it wasn't
long before the road turned and lead me knee
deep into primarily a technical environment.
This was exciting at first, however it started
to become more corporate and less artistic. It
was about six years ago when I realized that
daily life was full of stress and lacked
luster, so I decided to keep my toe in the ever
evolving world of technology, which I loved,
but I would place my full attention back in the
world of art—which
I love more. So, that brings me here.
Why I decided to have a website
Well, it started out simple enough; I had a
desire to offer my personal art reproductions
online.
Why I'm associated with a larger organization
A desire to have a website is simple in nature,
however I would soon find out that nothing is
ever as simple as it seems. It wouldn't take me
long to see the benefits of working in
conjunction with a larger organization such as
ArtistRising.com. One reason was because they
gave the buyer an option to purchase fine art
reproductions on 8 x 10 prints, which you
rarely see online, and the second reason was
ArtistRising.com is a division of Art.com. Why
was the latter an advantage? Well, besides the
fact that I've had an appreciation for Art.com
for many years, there was also a wonderful perk
for artists. If one's artwork met their talent
and marketing criteria, it could be selected to
have a presence on their home site, plus
Allposters.com, which is an another division of
Art.com. This was big for me, and in my
opinion, there would be additional benefits to
the buyer. So, you can imagine my joy when the
first of my fine art photography were selected.

Why I became an affiliate
Seek help if you need it... At this point, in
the evolution of Lausen Arts' website, I was
primarily offering standard features like
showcasing my art and providing a link to my
Artist Rising gallery where people could buy my
fine art reproduction prints. This worked
perfectly, and still does today, however I
wanted to elevate the 'customers purchasing art
experience', so in order to have more options
to offer, I joined the affiliation teams at
Art.com and Allposters.com. That way:
-
I could provide customers coming to my site a gateway to additional benefits
• Access to more art--way more--thousands of more artistic varieties. As big as my personal art selection is, I have only so much comparatively.
• Access to more types of artistic talent from fine art photographers, like myself (Lausen), all the way to the amazing fine art painters like Klimt or Van Gogh.
• Access to more product types: prints; canvas; wall tapestries; wall murals; wall decals.
• Access to competitive pricing with framing and matting.
• Access to a feature that lets you see framed art against an array of wall colours.
• Access to a video about the custom framing services.
• Access to a A Virtual Decorator.
• Access to a 100% satisfaction guaranteed - 30 day return policy: Returns FAQ.
• If you're a residential or commercial interior designer, you could get access to specific trade/wholesale discounts - Register for Trade Discounts.
• Access to a subscription for Dwell Magazine (10 issues) included with purchase of $30 or more, a $14.95 value, to name just a few. -
I could assist fellow artists by promoting their artwork
There's no question, my first priority is to helping people get connected to art. I'll admit, one part of me would probably say that I would love that connection to be primarily with my art, however the other side of me just doesn't feel that way at all. It feels that one of the best parts that makes the world such a joy to experience is that we live amongst so many wonderful artists creating so much wonderful work. So, having the ability to recommend other artists' creations was a real selling feature to me with the affiliate program since I could showcase their art on my site. And since my mission, as an artist, is to help make the world a little bit more beautiful, one wall at a time, this was a positive way to support that aim while helping another at the same time. -
I could do more to help the organizations that were already helping me
"No matter what accomplishments you make, somebody helped you." Althea Gibson. (http://www.famousquotesandauthors.com/topics/helping_other_people_quotes.html) Now up front, I must let you know that because I am an affiliate, if at any point you click through from LausenArts.com to Art.com and Allposters.com and buy art from them, I will receive a commission, so my personal opinions about them could potentially be seen as trying to convince you on my benefit, however that wouldn't be true under this, or any other premise. Of course, in the the land of doing business there is an exchange that takes place for services given. We all have bills to pay. But, the following comments stem from the heart of the matter—if you have the means, it would be a good idea to help those who have helped you. When Art.com decided to put my artwork on their website, they provided me the gift of opportunity. How do you reciprocate that? For me, as it turned out, I could help by becoming a bridge between them and a customer with a need. -
I could cover some of my site's costs
Having a website, or what I'd like to call a bridge that connects people with art, has a production cost, so being an affiliate helps cover some of those expenses. You see, if you click on a piece of artwork that says 'Buy Artwork at Art.com' or 'Buy This Allposters.com' like the following examples, I will receive a commission if, and only if, you purchase art on their site.

Perks from LausenArts.com

Art is organized with home decorating in mind
Okay, it's true. I'm not a professional home decorator, therefore I can't claim, from a professional point of view, how one should decorate a home. However, I am a professional artist, with an eye for the same principles and elements that are required for interior decorating: space; form; lines; shapes; textures; values; and colours, so I can say a thing or two about it. With that said, I didn't really want to focus on the mechanics of design at this site--I wanted to express my insights on how the two worlds relate to each other: ART + HOME DECORATING.
Now this relationship between the two worlds has endless possibilities when it comes to merging them, especially on a website, but I decided I would only focus on what excited me the most, and that is, I have a personal passion for synchronizing art with home decor styles. I don't feel there's anything more intriguing than to explore the possibilities a room's style potential could have in conjunction with art.
So, you will find on this site that I have categorized webpages by decor styles and added selections of artwork that could possible enhance or create that decorating theme. Now, the chosen subjects per page, and the accompanying three pieces of art in each selection, is only my personal interpretations, so don't take them or the supporting text as gospel―it's not. The chosen collections are only reflections of my experience and what I think 'could' work. They're only considerations. They're only a means to inspire you. There are no hard rules, and at the end of the day people should just buy art for art's sake anyways. If it's beautiful to you, then please buy it and hang it for the sheer pleasure of it. Positive energy like that trumps everything. However, if you're after a defined theme or style or mood for your personal space and I can point out a different perspective for you to consider regarding all the various works of art I recommend, then all the energy put into this website will have been worth it.

There are stories behind some of my art
All of my artistic creations have some type of story behind them and sometimes I like to share with others what inspired those creations to begin with. So, if you don't feel inspired to purchase creative work today, no problem, then maybe I can at least offer you this type of inspiration—a journey of the mind towards creativity. -
If you didn't find what you wanted here, I provide gateways to other businesses
At the bottom of some LauseArts.com pages, I have included Google Advertisements. Even though I receive a commission from Google Adsense if you click on the ad, I must also let you know that the original intent for putting them on my website was to help my visitors. You see, I realized that I couldn't possibly provide a product for everyone, therefore it would be only logical for me to assume you might not find what you were looking for here. HOWEVER, I could provide alternative opportunities like a connection to other businesses that may be able to provide you with what you are looking for.
